The Testing Is Effective
Video Transcribed: Hi, I’m. I’m a Tulsa fathers’ rights lawyer here to answer some of your questions about fathers’ rights. Today I’m going to be talking a little bit about genetic testing, what genetic testing is, and where to do it.
Genetic testing is a test essentially taking DNA samples from a parent usually a father, almost always a father and a child. And it requires a sample from both. Both of these samples are tested in order to determine basically an alignment between the DNA in both samples.
And they will give an approximation of parentage. Generally speaking in samples, which are of parent and child, that is tending to be 99% or above. And that could be less, but in most cases, it will be 99% or above.
If you are looking to get a genetic test, you will want to go to an office that does genetic testing that is court-approved. They will require that someone present the child or the child’s sample in order to conduct this analysis.
And so you may be required to go to court and get an order for genetic testing ordering the mother of the child to produce the child or a sample of the child for genetic testing.
