Child Support Is Computed Based Upon Both Person’s Abilities
Video Transcribed: Hi, I’m a Tulsa father’s rights lawyer here to answer questions about fatherhood and father’s rights. Today, I want to talk about child support in Tulsa. What is child support? Well, child support is support paid for the child’s support and rearing.
Now, this can be established in either a DHS administrative court in Tulsa or a district court in Tulsa. However, only a district court in Tulsa can establish custodial rights.
So while you’ll need to appear at that administrative proceeding, particularly if child support is on the table, you will not receive any custodial rights at that administrative court. Child support is computed based upon both person’s abilities.
Now this means that child support fluctuates depending on the income levels of parents and therefore children are afforded the benefits of both of their parents, ability to pay.
Every person has an ability to work except to the extent that there is a social security disability claim preventing them from doing so. However, even in those circumstances, those persons do receive income. If you’ve got any questions about child support, whether it be computation or the establishment thereof, give us a call.
