It’s Possible That You Would Pay No Child Support
Video Transcribed: Hi, I am a child support lawyer in Tulsa, OK. I am here to answer questions about fatherhood and father’s rights. Oftentimes we get the question, “If she makes more money than I do, do I have to pay child support?” And that’s a complicated question because maybe is the answer.
If you have your rights established and you have physical custody rights to that child, depending upon the nights of overnight visitation that you have, you will receive a childcare credit. If you receive more than 121 days, you’re in the money, and you’re receiving a childcare credit.
And if she makes more than you, it’s possible that you would pay no child support. As you near the number 182 and a half overnight visitations, child support and the childcare credit even out. And what that means is if she makes more money than you and you have 182 and a half days of overnight visitation, then she’s paying you child support.
If you’ve got any questions about what child support payments in Oklahoma you should be making, or how to reduce your child support because she’s making money, and more money than you are, then you need to give us a call.
