Covid-19 Changes The Way to Educate Children
Video Transcribed: Do you have custody of your children during the weekday? Are they out of school because of the COVID-19 virus? This is going to be a little bit of a video on your plan of action in response to COVID-19 and in order to educate your children.
The first thing to consider is the age of your children and the curriculum. As the children get older, the harder the curriculum will be, but also the more accountability that those children should have to actually completing things that are relevant to their own educational plan.
Whereas children, the curriculum might be less onerous, but they may require more of your supervision to ensure that they are completing tasks. As the curriculum is more difficult, it may require more and more contact with teachers who are involved with the children.
At this point in time, the school systems are closed, but you should have an ability to email your children’s teachers in order to communicate about their educational development. Teacher communications are essential. Email your teachers, email your kids’ teachers.
All of these things can be used to document that you are the proper home for either sole custody or for access and possession of your children. All of the things that you’re doing for your kids’ education need to be documented and that would include the emails.
Keep track of those. Document schedules for the activities that your children are engaging in for their school, and also keep student work product. Create a portfolio for all your records and correspondence with the teachers.
Date it all. Keep it in order by date. Remember if you share custody or visitation, there will always be a possibility for things to come in front of the court and so maintaining documentation is always in your interest.
Again, this was a brief video on serving your children’s educational needs during this COVID-19 virus, as well as preserving documentation for your years in court if it ever becomes necessary.
